Exposing the Errors of the Hebraic Roots Movement (Video #1)

The heresy of Judaizing that was so prevalent in the days of the Apostles has been reborn in the modern Hebraic Roots Movement. It is hard to imagine that what Paul wrote so clearly against in the epistles of Romans, Galatians and Ephesians could ever become popular among Christians, but it has happened. With a few tweaks the ancient heresy of Judaizing has become an accepted movement within Christian churches. To be sure not everything in the movement is heretical, but we must be aware about the dangers of this movement. This is the first in a series of videos in which its dangers are exposed.

  1. Hi Chris, what you are saying is very interesting. In light of two passages, one from the New Testament and the other from the old:
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16 + 17

Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. Amos 3:7

Would you be as kind as to support your interpretation of what you say with the prophets. After all, if what you claim is true, than God would have informed the prophets of those secretes things of the future.

    1. Amos3:7’s context will show you that the meaning is God will not bring judgement to a city or nation without warning:
6 Is a trumpet blown in a city,
and the people are not afraid?
Does disaster come to a city,
unless the Lord has done it? 7 “For the Lord God does nothing
      without revealing his secret
      to his servants the prophets. 8 The lion has roared;
      who will not fear?
      The Lord God has spoken;
who can but prophesy?” – Amos3:6-8
It does not mean that every revelation was given in the OT.
As for defending my view, ill leave that for the reader to decide whether it is historic orthodox biblical teaching or not.
God bless & thx for your input.

      1. Just think, Satan wants us not to obey God also. Jesus uses the test of practicing obedience in order to establish if he ever even knew someone.

Paul tells people to follow him (use him as an example) as he follows Jesus (using Jesus as an example).

Peter warns that Paul’s writings are difficult to understand and that untaught and unstable people twist Paul’s teachings to their own destruction.

Jesus said that he did not come to destroy or abolish or do away with Torah (law.) God intentions is to make each one of us in his son’s likeness. In other words, God wants the rest of us just like his son!

Jesus fully lived and practiced the requirements of Torah. He never broke Torah (sinned) once.

Jesus will return and judge the entire human race.

How do you justify your teaching that the very thing that Jesus will use to judge the entire human race does not apply to believers? How do you justify your teaching that following Jesus’s and Paul’s examples could possible include the very opposite of what they lived and practiced?

How do you justify your teaching to echos what Satan has always wanted, that we disobey God (ignore or disobey his Torah)?

As of today, not all of the prophecies that are in Torah have been fulfilled, since Torah also include the prophecy of Jesus’ return.

In light of your teaching, if God could simply change his mind regarding his Torah, there would not have been a reason for Jesus to die! He could have simply changed his mind about what Sin (breaking Torah) is.

Just think, if God ever does change Torah or make in null and void, God will then be using two different weights, one just and the other unjust. This would mean that God would cease being Holy, Righteous, and Just. In essence, God would cease being God.

If God changed his mind about His forever Torah, how could anyone ever trust him for his forever salvation. If God’s forever only lasts as long as his forever Torah lasted according to you, none of the people born today would have a chance at his forever salvation since the forever ran out a long time ago.

Therefore, if anyone is teaching an “another gospel,” it must be you. There are too many places that tells us that God never changes.

One last news flash. God requires obedience to his Torah as a demonstration of our love for him. When you do not obey his Torah, (as you teach that we no longer need to do,) it must be because we do not love him. If we do not love, it means that we are not born of God, because God is love! Therefore we will not have anything in common with God, who is love. The only one that we will have anything in common with is the lawless one!

Sounds to me that your “good news” is not that good after all! So your good news is not God’s good news or the Gospel, so you must be teaching Another gospel!

      2. Thanks for your input. I follow historic orthodoxy. I decided a while ago im not clever enough to reinterpret history & the historic christian understanding of the scriptures.
As for not teaching to obey the Torah, i believe we must of obey the Torah, that is, the Law. I follow the Law of Christ who is God made flesh. I do not believe he merely commentated on the Law of Moses which was given to the Israelites according to the flesh.
I assume you were circumcised since you believe in keeping the law of moses, but i accept paul’s teaching in Rom 2:28 — Rom 2:29:
For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.
But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.”
It is worth noting that “another Gospel” Paul referred to in Galatians 1 are those who require the Gentiles to keep the Laws of Moses. You might look into tge background of Galatians by referring to Acts 15:5 in which “some believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, ‘It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.'” You will note that in the end the decision of the Apostles was against these Pharisees.
But of course we are to keep the Law of Christ which is distint from the Law of Moses as Paul makes clear in 1 Cor9:20-21 “To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.
To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.” & hebrews 7:12 confirms “For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well.”
I suggest you go back and listen to all my teachings on the Hebraic roots error. They are not scattered troughout the “thinking out loud” section of the website. I have a recording from a 7 hour workshop i did on this topic, i will try to post those soon.
But, i will mainly post them for others & pray for you. I perceive you have already been gripped by this error. So if you have honest questions (not points of debate) i will gladly answer them. Otherwise i will delete any comments i deem argumentative & unhelpful for my readers.
May Yaweh grant you true shalom in Yeshua!

      3. Christopher, I know how easy it can be to simply follow those ahead of us. Everybody does it and it is a highly traveled road. If those that have come before us remain on the true path, it is wise to follow them. However, history reveals too many examples were the leadership selects a course other than the one lead by the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus walked on the Earth, historic orthodoxy taught that Jesus was a blasphemer that needed to be stoned. There numerous accounts list in the Bible of how the religious leaders of the times attempted to get Jesus in order to kill him. In the end, they did succeed in having Jesus put to death on the cross for blaspheming. Each of the very early church leaders likewise were killed for blasphemy according to historical orthodoxy.

History records numerous “orthodoxy” errors in early church history. Perhaps the worst of there “orthodox errors” was giving the reigns of the church to Constantine. It was through Constantine that the early church was impregnated with multiple pagan believes and practices. He is the one that introduce the pagan practices of christmas and easter. He is also the one that changed the holy day of Shabbat to Sunday worship, the day of pagan practice. Those that opposed the ‘holy day’ change faced the loss of property and life!

With Constantine’s leading, many false teachings entered into orthodoxy, such a hold cell where people could pay off their sin debt over time after death or they could pay cash money in order to pay for their or others sin debt.

Since Constantine was already considered a god among his own people, it was nothing for him to assume his godlike state in the church, making himself equal to God, himself. He also introduced the worship of the dead and made priests of those that are not priests.

Under a Constantine orthodoxy the church lost “salvation through grace” and replaced it with “salvation through works.” Luther discovered the ‘teachings of grace’ and received great persecution when he taught it.

Constantine also introduced the church to the doctrines of demons by forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from foods that God gave to be eaten.

That is why we received the promise of the Spirit of truth, which will guide or teach us in all truth. We need to trust him to reveal all errors in historical orthodoxy!

Christopher, be careful in what you trust. Instead, test everything!

      4. Everything indeed was corrupted after Constantine. Before that the church rained unified, persecuted & orthodox. Every heresy is a mixture of clever ppl thinking they understand the Bible better than others plus a twist on history. I encourage you to go back to the orthodox fathers like Ignatius, Clement, the epistle of Barnabas, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus & more. Pay attention to what they declare with one vouce, as well as what they oppose (with the pen, not the sword), which includes the Judaizing heresy that continued into the 2nd & 3rd century, & has been revived in our day thru a mix of dispensational theology with conspiracy theories of history (usually claiming Constantine changed the Lord’s Day, etc). My blog is not a place to debate orthodoxy, but a place to learn it. If you feel hostoric orthodoxy is unorthodox please pray for those of us that hold to it and graciously move along to read other blogs. If you wish to understand why i believe the Bible teaches against HRM, please refer to the audio links under the “thinking out loud” section of my blog. The full workshop (7sessions) will be up within a few days (some already are). If you wish to correct my understanding, please just pray for me; i dont wish to debate. I have done my research & have conclusions on the matter. I dont have time or interest to go through it all again; it took long enough the first time i studied this topic;) I wish you all the best in your pursuit of truth. Remember one thing, honesty, not cleverness, is the prerequisite for finding truth. God bless you.
